Furthermore, colistin induced mitochondrial dysfunction in mouse central nervous system and chicken neurons, axonal degeneration and demyelization of mice sciatic nerves [16,17,19]. Interestingly, mitochondrial dysfunction is a key determinant of neurodegeneration [20,21]. Also, it accumulates amino

2022-03-18
Several compounds have been described in the literature as inhibitors of the sGC. Among them, methylene blue and LY83583 () are not direct sGC inhibitors, but rather block cGMP formation by generating superoxide anion radicals that deactivate NO. Despite their extensive use in plethora of research s

Electrostatic potential along with measurement and modeling of corresponding energies is vital for inferring protein properties, lone or complexed with ligands. DelPhi was used for solving Poisson Boltzmann equation, obtaining grid, total reaction and coulombic energies after solvating the proteins

2022-03-18
The observed glucose intolerance and elevated fasting blood glucose in this study is in consonance with earlier study (Ferris and Kahn, 2012). These have been the common features of GC exposure and are not unexpected. Previous researches that reported IR during GC exposure have shown controversy con

Ning et al. showed that LPC 18:1 appeared to increase insulin release through both GPR119-dependent and -independent mechanisms (Ning et al., 2008). In our study, we have shown that not only GPR119 but also GPR40 and GPR55 participate in LPC-stimulated insulin secretion (Fig. 4, Fig. 5) and target p
Another possible effect of niacin
2022-03-18
Another possible effect of niacin is in altering immune cell trafficking; as it has been suggested that niacin therapy quells endothelial cell activation (Digby et al., 2010, Ganji et al., 2009) and thereby suppresses inflammatory cell recruitment (Wu et al. 2010). However, the impact of niacin on l

Introduction Adipose tissue (AT), in addition to its function as Thonzonium Bromide storage, is an important endocrine organ and it secretes adipokines (Ahima, 2006). Adipose tissue is related to different physiological processes such as energy metabolism, insulin sensitivity, and inflammation.
SGCs tightly ensheath the soma of DRG neurons
2022-03-18
SGCs tightly ensheath the soma of DRG neurons (Costa and Moreira, 2015, Hanani, 2005, Takeda et al., 2009). Intimate associations between SGCs and neurons facilitate bidirectional regulation of SGC function and neuronal excitability. After nerve injury, neuronal hyperexcitability can result in SGC a

2022-03-18
Caffeine decreased EAAT1 and EAAT2 SB 204990 receptor levels in P2 fraction, as well as [3H]d-aspartate uptake; however, as soon as caffeine is removed from incubation, [3H]-d-Aspartate uptake is recovered to control levels, eliminating the possibility of caffeine as a cell death inducer. In resum

To confirm that these were bona fide interactions, we investigated whether the potassium channel subunits or Tmem263 formed complexes with GLT-1 or DAT after immunoprecipitation. Lysates of HEK-293 cells previously cotransfected with HA-GLT-1 or HA-DAT, and either YFP-Kv7.3, YFP-Kv7.2 or YFP-Kv7.5 w

In this study, our result suggests that exogenous GR agonist DEX and GR inhibitor RU486 can affect dopaminergic neurotransmitters in the brain. Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP), an endogenous neuropeptide, can regulate the synthesis and release of catecholamine. McArthur et

2022-03-17
Considerable evidence links sustained GCG administration to the reduction of food intake, enhancement of energy expenditure and weight loss in rodent and human studies [16], [17], [18]. Moreover, patients presenting with GCG-producing tumors frequently manifest severe weight loss, through mechanisms

Due to the presence of all FGFRs in the epithelium, there are several FGFs ligands that could be binding to these FGF receptors, namely FGFs 1–4, 8–10, 16 and 18–20. By evaluating the known roles of FGFs in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions and in bone development, this list can be reduced. For ex

Much is known about FPPS structure and function, with over 120 FPPS crystal structures being currently available. This wealth of information is largely the consequence of human FPPS serving as a drug target for the treatment and/or prevention of pathologies such as osteoporosis, hypercalcemia and Pa
