  2022-04-08

With the advent of genome sequencing, hexokinase gene sequences are now available from a far greater number of vertebrate species, as well as from diverse non-vertebrate animal species. As indicated above, searches of vertebrate genome sequences revealed the existence of a novel fifth member of the

Conflict of interest statement Acknowledgments Introduction Hedgehog (Hh) signaling controls key steps of development in most tissues and organs of invertebrates and vertebrates (Briscoe and Therond, 2013, Ingham et al., 2011, Wilson and Chuang, 2010). The unique cellular composition and mo

Besides the described effects on gross locomotor function, impairment of visuo-motor coordination and fine-motor skills like resting tremors, bradykinesia and rigidity were also investigated, reflecting on the symptomatology of Parkinson's disease in humans (Inzelberg et al., 2008). Preclinically, t

No specific inhibitor of KCC has progressed to clinical trials, however, although compounds like H74 were shown to specifically target KCC over the related Na+-K+-2Cl− cotransporter (NKCC) (Ellory et al., 1990). This molecule, or its related analogues, represent compounds of promise. Simple Mg suppl

Introduction Conversion of visual input into electrical information and routing this information to the brain is the main function of the eye (Levin et al., 2011). These processes require a microenvironment that offers adequate supply with oxygen and nutrients and also removal of all unwanted and

In the current study, we report the properties of P. anserina mutants carrying mutations in a gene encoding the bi-functional enzyme 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase/fructose-2,6-bisphosphatase (PFK-2/FBPase-2). This enzyme catalyzes two opposite reactions (Pilkis et al., 1995, Rider et al., 2004): synthesi

  2022-04-07

Acknowledgments Introduction Prenyltransferase catalyzes the head-to-tail condensation between isopentenyl diphosphate (IPP, 1) and an allylic prenyl diphosphate to produce several prenyl diphosphates, which are then converted into steroids, carotenoids, prenyl side-chains of quinones, and pre

Here, we show that Hippo signaling components are expressed during epicardium formation. To determine the significance of Yap and Taz in the developing epicardium, we generated epicardium-specific Yap/Taz double-knockout mice. Genetic deletion of Yap and Taz using Sema3d mice leads to embryonic leth

  2022-04-07

Anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 proteins have become attractive targets for anti-cancer agents development, because they are associated with progression of a wide variety of human cancers., , The small-molecular Bcl-2 inhibitor venetoclax (ABT-199) () has been approved recently for the treatment of patients w

  2022-04-06

The use of HIV-1 peptide epitope-based vaccines is safer and cheaper than live or inactivated vaccines [8]. However, peptide epitope vaccines could show poor immunogenicity and have poor uptake by APCs [9]. Nevertheless, nanocarrier-based delivery platforms have been demonstrated to enhance the pept

  2022-04-06

In humans, the effect of GnRH and hCG on trophoblast invasion was found to be mediated through extracellular matrix remodeling by facilitating the activity of MMP2 and MMP9 [13], [18], [44]. Both cfse are collagenases that degrade extracellular matrix. In canines, this has not yet been investigated

Epidemiological evidence indicates that neuroinflammation plays a pivotal role in pathogenesis of AD (Heneka et al., 2015, Heneka et al., 2013, Holmes et al., 2009, Liu et al., 2016). For example, prolonged treatment with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs reduces the risk of developing AD (In et
