Conflict of interest statement Acknowledgements We are very grateful to Maura Agate for her excellent editorial assistance. The work reported in this article was supported largely by the Italian MIUR. Introduction Atenolol is a selective β1-adrenergic receptor blocker that is orally effect

ABCA2 modulates intracellular sphingolipid metabolism in the LE/LY Recycling of plasma membrane lipids that occurs by constitutive endocytosis and vesicularization of complex glycolipids, complex sphingolipids and cholesterol as well as free cholesterol liberated from LDL after receptor-mediated

  2023-07-29

Hypoadiponectinemia in metabolic syndrome APN belongs structurally to the complement 1q family and is found at high concentrations (>0.01% of total protein) in the serum of healthy individuals [6]. Given the abundance of APN in plasma, it is assumed that alterations in plasma levels of APN might

The present work has implications for our thinking about the effects of antidepressant (e.g. SSRIs) use on maternal care in depressed mothers which consist of approximately 10–20% of all mothers (Gjerdingen and Yawn, 2007, Susser et al., 2016), and more than 40% of depressed mothers are prescribed w

  2023-07-29

Glucose permeability studies demonstrated a high glucose flux through the SF films used in the present work. Recent diffusion studies, including small molecular drugs and oxygen permeation through SF membranes [32], further support the quality of SF and its possible application as a material for bio

  2023-07-29

Diabetes or inflammation is associated with up-regulation of A2AAR (Pang et al., 2010). High levels of A2AARs are found in macrophages and microglial cells that are poised, on activation, to abrogate the immune response (Trincavelli et al., 2008). In addition, hyperglycemia is associated with increa

Compound 3 (29 mg) was purified as an amorphous, colourless powder. Molecular formula C20H28O4 was established by HRESIMS (Fig. S11) and corroborated with 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopic data (Table 1). IR spectrum showed bands for hydroxyl (3433 cm−1) and carbonyl (1686 cm−1) groups. 13C NMR spectrum

In these experiments, recordings were performed continuously in the homecage and during the first 5 days of training on a randomized forced alternation T-maze working memory task (Figures 1A, 1B, 3A, and 3B) (Kucewicz et al., 2011). Sleep and wake states were determined by simultaneous recording of

  2023-07-28

Aurora A and B are required for the control of mitosis whereas Aurora C is mainly invoved in meiosis (Goldenson and Crispino, 2015). Interestingly, Aurora B is partnered with inner centromere protein (INCENP), survivin and Borealin to form a chromosomal passenger complex (CPC) that is critical for t

  2023-07-28

The identification of novel kinase inhibitor scaffolds is highly desirable in order to develop selective kinase inhibitors. Small-molecule inhibitors of Interleukin-2-inducible T-cell kinase (Itk) that are based on the 3-aminopyridin-2-one fragment 1 have been reported. Despite derivatisation of 1 y

In Capecitabine to TPX2, members of the CPC (Figure 1B), such as survivin, borealin, and INCEN-P, which associate with Aurora B/C in animals, do not appear to have obvious homologs in plants. Recently, however, a putative INCEN-P homolog, termed WYRD, has been identified [34]. Sequence comparison b

Oxidative microbe killing and V-ATPase Oxidative killing of phagocytosed microorganisms is predominately achieved through the uptake of large quantities of molecular oxygen by the infected cell and the activity particularly of the NADPH oxidase complex on phagosomes (Savina et al., 2006) and the

There are two major isoforms of 12/15-LO in mammalian, 12 and 15- LO, with different cellular distributions. To determine the relative contributions of these isoforms towards glucose-induced monocyte-endothelial interactions, the distribution of these isoforms in the two cell types involved in leuko
