Norepinephrine and epinephrine are catecholamines (CA) released from synaptic nerves and the adrenal gland that mediate systemic responses to nutritional stressors (Cannon and De la Paz, 1911). CA mobilize plasma glucose by suppressing insulin secretion from the pancreatic β-cell (Katada and Ui, 198

  2024-07-15

To determine the post-translation modifications in chicken adiponectin, we isolated adiponectin from chicken adipose tissue by immunoprecipitation. Chicken adiponectin was then subjected to tryptic digestion and UPLC/MS/MS. The collagenous domain of chicken adiponectin was found to possess certain Z

  2024-07-15

A highly attenuated B. pertussis strain, named BPZE1, has recently been described [10]. It produces enzymatically inactive pertussis toxin (PT), no dermonecrotic toxin and only trace amounts of tracheal cytotoxin. Markedly reduced lung pathology was observed in mice intranasally (i.n.) infected with

In the past few years, several experimental findings have demonstrated a pivotal involvement of adenosine also in driving the phenotypic switch of macrophages. In particular, the stimulation of A2A and A2B receptors seems to play a critical role in switching macrophages from M1 to M2 phenotype [37,

  2024-07-15

Our published data showed that, in mouse heart, the protein level of WDR1 was highest during the embryonic stage, but became progressively decreased to a constant level from birth to adulthood (Yuan et al., 2014), indicating an important role of WDR1 in embryonic heart development. However, function

Methodology In this paper, mechanical properties of G-actin are examined. To do so, three different external tensile loads are exerted to the protein. As illustrated in Fig. 1, Arp2/3 complex binds to the one sides of mother Z-Guggulsterone and leads to the growth of a new daughter filament at a

As a continuation of our search for a selective AChE radioligand bearing a meta-F substituted N-benzyl moiety, we designed and synthesized a novel meta-F-CP-118,954 analog along with a meta-18F-labeled form via diaryliodonium salt-based precursor (Fig. 1). For comparative purposes, we incorporate th

  2024-07-15

Moreover, our present work suggests that AXL could be a modulator of sunitinib response, at least for cell lines that present high endogenous levels of this RTK activation, since we observed an increased responsiveness to sunitinib in DGAT-1 inhibitor activated with AXL receptor ligand. A role for A

  2024-07-15

Dual role of autophagy in human diseases Emerging evidence suggests that autophagy serves as a double-edged sword in several human diseases, such as CNS diseases (Rubinsztein et al., 2015), arteriosclerosis (Schrijvers et al., 2011) and cancer (Ozpolat and Benbrook, 2015). Likewise, currently the

Viral manipulation of host factors to oppose anti-viral autophagy To escape or manipulate autophagy, some viruses developed strategies that are based on the recruitment of host-cell endogenous factors. The non-enveloped double-stranded DNA virus adenovirus is rapidly endocytosed after attachment.

Assessment of antibiotic appropriateness is receiving increased attention in the face of growing concerns about the emergence of MDROs, as well as the rise in adverse outcomes associated with antibiotic use such as C. difficile infection. In this study, 15% of cultured Gram-negative organisms met th
